Recycling – Stuff White People Like

Wonderful new blog – Stuff White People Like.  There is a plethora of things there, but to whet your appetite – Recycling:

recycling

Recycling is a part of a larger theme of stuff white people like: saving the earth without having to do that much.

Recycling is fantastic! You can still buy all the stuff you like (bottled water, beer, wine, organic iced tea, and cans of all varieties) and then when you’re done you just put it in a DIFFERENT bin than where you would throw your other garbage. And boom! Environment saved! Everyone feels great, it’s so easy!

Attorney Who Keyed Marine’s Car Sentenced

This schmuck says he’s going to the south of France to get some sun and get away from all the negative publicity.I wish the judge had sentenced him to go with this Marine to Iraq and carry his kit for his tour. He’d get some fracking sun then.

Jay Grodner, the Chicago lawyer who keyed a Marine’s car in anger because the car had military plates and a Marine insignia, finally got his day in court last week.

Grodner pleaded guilty in a Chicago courtroom packed with former Marines. Some had Marine pins on their coats, or baseball jackets with the Marine insignia. They didn’t yellor call him names. They came to support Marine Sgt. Michael McNulty, whose car Grodner defaced in December, but who couldn’t attend because he’s preparing for his second tour in Iraq.

So Grodner received a $600 fine, which will go to a Marine charity, 30 hours of community service and a year of court supervision. If he doesn’t pay up in a month, the judge promised to put him in jail for a year.

Spread the Guilt – A Progressive Task

A year of hopeless misery has passed, to be replaced by a year of disastrous crises: * Brutal dictator Bush remains at large, slaughtering hundreds of millions, crushing dissent, and creating the worst Presidential Crisis in history.
* Millions of troops are still bogged down in the worst Military Crisis in history, instead of doing what they enlisted for: Cleaning up debris from natural and man-made disasters, and participating in social experiments.
* Millions of Americans become homeless every day because of the worst Mortgage Crisis in history.
* Millions lose jobs every day because of the Unemployment Crisis caused by the looming Recession Crisis due to strike any day now.
* Millions of Undocumented-Americans become victims of the Immigration Crisis, forced to risk losing their cultural roots on a daily basis, by sneaking into this country as if they were criminals. Is it fair to deny them the same rights Bush has taken away from the rest of us, after t

DO YOU FEEL MISERABLE AND GUILTY? YOU SHOULD–BECAUSE THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! OBVIOUSLY, IN THE PAST YEAR YOU DIDN’T CARE ENOUGH!
“I’m just as miserable as you, but I’m only one person,” you whine. “What can I do?”
I’m glad you’re miserable – and that you whined, my friend–for that means you are a true Progressive! But that is not enough. You MUST raise awareness about how miserable you are and how much you care! You MUST call everyone’s attention to the issues of grave concern to all of us who worry what others might say about us a hundred years from now!
You MUST make a resolution that every day of this year, you will make at least ten people around you feel guilty and miserable. Spread the guilt! We are here to help!
