$40,000 Fine or Six Months in Jail for Littering

From the UK:

A young mother-of-three is to be tried by a crown court jury after being accused of throwing an apple core from her car on to the pavement.

Kate Badger, 26, denies the littering charge but also claims the nature of the accusation is “ridiculous” because apples are biodegradable.

The council originally wanted simply to issue a £60 on-the-spot penalty for the alleged offence, said to have been committed on March 19 last year while Miss Badger’s Volkswagen Golf was parked on a street in Wolverhampton town centre.

Miss Badger refused to pay and the local authority took her to the magistrates’ court, where she chose to be tried by a jury in a crown court.

She faces a fine of up to £20,000 or six months in prison if she is found guilty of the charge, which states that she threw “controlled waste” from the car.

Oh how this must warm the hearts of the US EcoNazis. They only hope that this kind of power comes their way.

Green Communism

Owning a car opens up possibilities to a person that is beyond their reach otherwise, it opens up a freedom that many millions do not currently enjoy. The ability to find work at further distances from their homes than ever gives them more choices to find lucrative employment opportunities, the ability to find markets and entertainments are also greatly expanded. All this greatly expands individual freedom. If many millions more of the people of India (and around the world) find themselves able to afford this new car, it will incredibly improve their standard of living. It will also force the government to redirect their own efforts to internal improvements to accommodate this rise in cars that will add even more to raising the standard of living in once poor countries.

Green communists do not care about people and these two stories add to the ever growing proof that enviro-communists have gravitated to environmentalism as a replacement for an overt espousal of communist ideals.

If you need any more proof that the concept of Global Warming is less “science” and is more just a replacement for the kind of failed concepts of communism and socialism that is increasingly being rejected by the world, two recent stories helps clarify the point.

In a piece titled “Deadly Ozone From Drive-Thru Mania,” our Miss Hastings pours out her considerable “intellect” into the theory that drive thru windows are destroying the planet and making us a bunch of fatties.
Yeah, it’s all because of … you guessed it… capitalism. Her solution, of course, is to put an end to all this capitalism stuff like all good communists aim to do.
Isn’t this great news? Not to the communists of Greenpeace who are protesting this new product. Green communists are attempting to forever keep the poor in the grinding poverty in which they currently wallow.
Their pals in the media are happy to fan the flames of alarmism over the supposed “global disaster” of this incredible new freedom-promoting car.

Eco-Equity? Green Jobs Act Signed Into Law

Think about this number $125 million. Just how many families making $75,000 a year would have to donate their entire income to the federal government so that this idiocy can take place? Try 1666 (I’ll round down instead of up). So consider a whole neighborhood of 1666 houses with families each making that much and then consider that all their economic action would be wasted. And then the government would have to steal more money from hard working people to support these 1666 families. Its never presented in quite that straightforward a way – but that’s what it comes down to.Just how many “Green pathways out of poverty” will actually be created? I’m sure that all this money will go to a bunch of people who can throw around “green” language and suck all the funds from some gullible bureaucrat. But if even 1 job is created it won’t be done by green seminars on how to get poor people to install solar panels.

And what’s worse? $125 million is now the floor under which a whole edifice of “green” spending will occur – each year wasting the economic output of more and more families.

the 2007 Energy Bill did contain one surprise piece of legislation
The Green Jobs Act, passed as part of the Energy Bill, commits the federal government to funding job training for 35,000 people a year to work in environmentally-friendly fields.
The Act allocates $125 million yearly for green job training programs all over the USA. Of that:
$25 million will be allocated to create “green pathways out of poverty,” i.e. job training for low-income people in fields like solar power installation and green roofing.
$80 million for “just transitions” – green job re-training, for example teaching construction workers competency in green construction techniques.
$20 million for renewal energy and energy efficiency research
showing that it is possible to achieve economic growth thorough protecting the environment
The law is the first to link social justice with environmentalism in this way on the national level

Bearly Truthful

When the polar bear population increases by 500% it hardly qualifies as being endangered. In fact, ask the people who have their arms torn off by these cuddly little fellows whether they are as nice as they are pictured by the eco-nazis.
clipped from commentisfree.guardian.co.uk

How did the polar bear, one of nature’s most vicious beasts, become the doe-eyed poster boy for the green lobby?
Environmentalist groups stick pictures of pitiable bears in their leaflets and on their posters. They feature heavily in Al Gore’s Hitchcockian documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Even adverts for low-energy lightbulbs and renewable energy show polar bears adrift in a sea of mangled, melting ice. The message seems clear: “Go green, or the bear gets it.”
The global polar bear population has increased from around 5,000 in the 1960s to 25,000 today.
The myth of the desolate bear reveals two things about the politics of environmentalism: first, that it’s underpinned by a simplistic, anthropomorphic view of good vs evil, which most of us grew out of before we hit our teens; second, that it frequently bends the facts to fit the fable.

A Cry for Help

Sometimes a cry needs to be answered. So we have this frantic message from W. Christopher Epler:

Once upon a time, most of us had Republican friends and neighbors. Sure, we didn’t agree all the time, but there was almost always a significant degree of mutual respect, much like being the “loyal opposition” to each other’s party.

this was the good ol’ days when we had a viable two party system and this dynamic was the engine of American politics — and “in general” Democrats and Republicans got along tolerably well.

Ah yes, the good old days when Democrats ran the government, rain fell on each part of the country as needed, the gentle feeling of peace and brotherhood ruled in the land, and we actually knew someone who was a Republican.

Except, of course, for that facist Nixon with his Himmler-like henchman Kissinger, and that incompetent boob Ford, and that fascist incompetent cowboy actor Reagan, who was just channeling the fancifully remembered 1950’s good-times feeling of that idiot Eisenhower.

Gentle discourse between Democrats and Republicans allowed the ship of good government to sail smoothly along the waters of the second half of the twentieth century. We had kind words for all, except for the important stuff like the War in Vietnam and the draft and the facist corporations on campus making napalm to kill innocent Vietnamese citizens and the nuclear holocaust that the idiot Reagan was bringing down on our heads by his being nasty to the Russians and that first failed Hitler-like move in the Middle East of the first President Bush and don’t even get me started on the apartheid of the Jews against the poor Palestinians. Right Mr. Epler? Or is the the time when Republicans just rolled over and gave the Democrats what they wanted?

So this wonderful imaginary time is replaced with what?:

Alas, all that is now deader than dead, since the closest thing we have to a two party system now are fascists vs. progressives. The DLC establishment Democratic Party has basically been eaten alive by the Bush/Republican Party. Establishment Democrats (e.g., Pelosi, Reed, and Clinton) have all turned out to be closet Bush/Republicans. Hillary Clinton is a veritable female clone of George W. Bush and she’s the number one presidential candidate for Carville-type beltway Democrats!

If you think Hillary Clinton, who wants to nationalize one-seventh of the national economy in order to “give” health care to everyone, who has promised to “take” the profits from oil companies, who has promised to “take things away from you for the common good”– that Hillary — is anything like George W Bush then you have gone so far into the fever swamps it will take two trains and a bus ride to get to you. The Democrat party stands for the nationalization of healthcare, increasing taxes, diminished living standards, surrender to our enemies, the ability to abort babies up to the second of birth, and the repudiation of the entire American culture. If you think that ANY of that would appeal to any Republican then its been so long since you actually talked to one that you have completely forgotten anything about Republicans.

The mistake that Republicans made for decades was to simply “go along” with the Democrats. Confronting the leftists, progressives, communists and Marxists in this country who wanted to destroy it is what got America out of the malaise of Jimmy Carter and into the world leadership role it enjoys today. We are NOT going to surrender to the Islamists, we will find and kill those who want to kill us. We do NOT want to understand why they hate us. Like the Germans and Japanese we simply want to kill them until they decide that getting along with us is better than dying.

But back to your plea. Your cry is a parody of Bush Derangement Syndrome.

1. BusHitler – check:

Bush/fascist financial insanities and illegalities in the trillions!

Democracy and the Earth are being voraciously murdered by Bush/fascist psychopaths

And our Democratic Republic (going back to President Lincoln — a Republican) has been replaced by Bush/fascists with an American early 3rd millennia version of the German 3rd Reich.

who loath and fear what these Bush neo Nazis (which is EXACTLY what they are!)

fighting for their lives against the 4th Reich of George W. Bush.

if we don’t WORK TOGETHER to get rid of these literal neo Nazis, our planet and Democracy are doomed.

Herr George W. Bush

We get it – you watch a lot of WWII movies. You obviously have no clue as to what the Nazis really were either. Are you scared you will be rounded up and put into a concentration camp for criticizing the Bush Administration? Absolutely not, otherwise you wouldn’t be posting them on the internet just hoping the world will see them. But flaccid thinking on the left has meant we have to endure a half century of fascist allusions. Here’s a thought, if you really want to pull out a despicable human being compare them to Stalin or Mao. They killed many more people than Hitler. They also were great believers in income equality. No income for anyone!

2. Denigrate the intelligence of Republicans – check:

Maybe it has something to do with being blessed with 70 IQ’s.

3. Anti-Christian references – check:

remember that dipstick Armageddon religious fanatics think the Earth is going to go *boom* any day now

until the time was right to reemerge as the metastasized cancer (and anti-Christ?) of Herr George W. Bush

4. Overhyped and hysterical rhetoric – check:

EVERYTHING we hear now about global warming, ozone holes, oceanic pollution, etc., is the death rattle of the ecosystem of the planet.

You folks must realize by now that if we don’t WORK TOGETHER to get rid of these literal neo Nazis, our planet and Democracy are doomed.

The planet is doomed? Really? The earth will cease to exist? The ecosystem of the entire planet is doomed? The human race will be wiped out? Democrats will be no more? Progressives won’t have anyone or anything to whine about? If only those last two were true.

But you don’t believe that any more than you believe that mankind can make any difference in the weather systems of this planet. Its just another eco-freak code phrase for “I hate myself for living comfortably, but I’m still a good person because I scream and yell about the environment”. If you truly believe the entire earth is dying, just what do you think you can do to fix it? Recycle your aluminum cans and wear hemp? Are you willing to give up all technology, all medicines, all of civilization and go back to living in caves and burning wood? And if you do, are you SURE it will change the weather? Is today’s weather the only good weather? 100,000 years ago North America was covered with ice. Was that the proper temperature for North America? The whole of the central American continent has been a great inland sea many times. It was warmer then than now – was that the right temperature?

In short, you aren’t asking for help. You just want people to agree with you regardless of whether you are right or wrong. Republicans don’t believe in doing the wrong thing just because its politically correct and feels good.

For those who have better things to do than keep track of the latest in a long series of UN sponsored playtimes about the environment, there is one going on in Bali now. Of course a ton of very, very, VERY serious bloggers like this one, writing very, very, very, VERY, VERY serious posts:

The next three days might prove to be among the most crucial in history. If countries can agree to talks that will lead to the cuts in emissions that will keep global conditions within tolerable levels, then humankind could have a bright future. If, however, governments fail to rise to this challenge there could be very rough times ahead…………

Leadership and resolve is now needed from those countries who say they see the danger posed by rapid climate change. The EU must keep its nerve, and not only argue for an obligation on industrialised countries to cut emissions by a sufficient amount, but to also resist those countries who are trying to wreck these talks by insisting that developing countries should take on legally binding targets as well. The rich nations have the means to act and are largely responsible for the global temperature increase we already have……….

Some thoughts in response:

1. The next three days might prove to be among the most crucial in history.

Its overblown rhetoric like this which actually harms your own cause. The globaloney left and parasitic bureaucrats from the United Nations and all the associated NGOs have been crying doom about everything for such a long time that the sound becomes some sort of background noise.

You don’t really believe that the next 3 days will determine the fate of the earth. Otherwise why aren’t you spending every penny you own, mortgaging your house and car and all your possessions, and bringing every single resource you have in an effort to get your desired outcome? By your own words, this is the most crucial 3 days in all of human history and all you can do is sit around observing and yammering about it? You don’t do more than whine about the issue because you know this is more about some sort of money shakedown and an anti-capitalism kabuki dance.

Your governments certainly don’t believe that what you are saying is true. The heads of state aren’t convinced that its true or they would be there. The most cruical days in all human existence? The government representation is a lot more about a nice pre-Christmas vacation in a Pacific paradise. With a great opportunity to bash America, but that’s just gravy to the UN lickspittles and their ideological kin walking the beaches of Bali.

2. Leadership and resolve is now needed from those countries who say they see the danger posed by rapid climate change. The EU must keep its nerve

This would be the same EU that is growing its carbon dioxide emissions faster than the United States? Your moral slip is showing – and you don’t have any leadership on this either. Are you leaders willing to stand up and tell your citizens that they need to reduce their standard of living by 40%? No more flying, no more driving, no more building individual houses, no more than one sheet of toilet paper per use? Of course not. Because its just another sheet of paper with silly writing on it that the EU and all other countries in the world know they can ignore with absolutely no consequences to themselves. But it will make them feel really, really good to stand up and say they did something for the environment.

If you really wanted to effect global change you should encourage all the oil and coal use you can. Only when the oil and coal are gone will the global economy change to something else.

3. The rich nations have the means to act and are largely responsible for the global temperature increase we already have

You actually think that mankind now possesses the power to terraform the entire planet? Again, I don’t believe you do. The whole article is about some vauge plan to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2020, but specifics on how that is to happen are thin on the ground. And will this have any effect on the global temperature? Not that anyone can prove with any measure of certainty. We don’t know the daily rainfall of the Earth. We don’t know the cloud cover percentage of the Earth to any certainty. We don’t know the temperatures and effects of the different currents in the oceans. There is so much we don’t know about the global atmosphere and especially how all the parts work together over this huge planet. And yet your religious belief in carbon emissions as the only source of global warming (see that big ball of fire in the sky? might it have some influence on the atmosphere?) means that you want everyone on the earth to give up technology? to stop driving cars? to stop heating or cooling their homes?

Again, you don’t really know what 40% reduction means or implies. Somehow you violated the earth with carbon emissions by flying from Britain to Bali. Journalists are exempt? Are you willing to accept nuclear power for your electricity? No nasty carbon emissions with nuclear. I couldn’t say for sure, but since most eco-nauts love the planet and hate nuclear power it is a guess you wouldn’t like that solution at all. But this is the end of days for the earth – would you be willing to compromise your “no nukes” stance to save the earth? Just how are you going to get your electricity? And don’t say wind power – it might sound good, but since you can’t depend on the wind 100 percent of the time every wind farm has to have some backup generation capability that will work when you can’t get power from those huge turbines. Your own government in the UK is proposing to put 2 giant wind turbines on every single mile of coastline, but they still admit that you have to have some backup power generation – if you want reliable electricity anyway.

So you use hysterical rhetoric, don’t actually believe in what you are saying, want to have some sort of moral stance taken rather than anything that would interrupt your own comfortable life, and believe in imaginary solutions to real world problems.

And then you wonder why we don’t believe you?

Manmade Global Warming Recap

If you believe the recent track record (seeding the ocean with algae, for example), the odds that we would really screw terraforming up are almost 100%. Toss in the UN and that goes to 150%. Indeed, given the fact that all the proposed programs — Kyoto, etc. — have zero chance of any meaningful effect other than shifting the wealth of the first world to the soon to be first world, let’s go the full 200%.

Let’s review:

  • We’ve allegedly “warmed” the planet (all by our lonesomes, no help from the sun, that only happens on Mars.)….
  • Warmed…. the entire planet ( a little, a middling, a lot: take your pick)
  • Warmed…. by “not realizing what we were doing.” (I pass over the fact that, in general, it is better for humans and all life to have a warmer Earth — see: “Ages, Ice.” )
  • The solution is to, well, “cool the planet.”
The word for this is “Terraforming” meaning working on and reshaping an entire world. And we’re going to do this, I understand, on a crash program to go on for a century with no limit as to budget.
A race of semi-smart monkeys that can bottle water in Fiji, get it to a corner store in Seattle, but that can’t even — as yet — figure out how to get clean water to most of the living people across the planet. You’ll have to excuse me if I observe we don’t even begin to have the knowledge and power to terraform the Earth. It simply isn’t in the cards.
