NPR’s Answer for Air America

OK people, time to get a clue.  National Socialist Radio has a story about Air America’s demise and gives lots of excuses like:

Each new management wanted to put their mark on the company by changing the program line-up, which is death in radio. Stability is everything.

The latest management blamed the economy and declining ad revenue across the industry.

It’s hard in general to get anything off the ground in radio, regardless of what your format is.

But come on guys.  NPR has shown you the template for keeping liberal talk on radio.  Grab that great big government teat and hang on for dear life!

NPR – 20 year tax break extorted from Washington D.C.

So National Palestinian Radio, er, National Socialist Radio, excuse me, National Public Radio is going to keep its headquarters in the District for the next 20 years.  Or until they sell.  But isn’t that some sort of corporate welfare that they always rail about in their pinko commentaries?

The Washington Post reported Thursday that National Public Radio, long a taxpayer-subsidized sandbox for Sixties-retread liberalism, has decided to keep its headquarters in the District of Columbia — thanks to a huge 20-year property tax holiday. “Neil O. Albert, deputy mayor for planning and economic development, said that NPR will not pay property taxes on the building for 20 years, saving $40 million. The city has agreed not to raise property taxes by more than 3 percent on the station’s Massachusetts Avenue building for two decades, or until NPR sells it.”

Reporters Yolanda Woodlee and Miranda Spivack also reported other local property owners were incensed at the special dealing as their taxes multiply:

Nicholas Deoudes, who owns three buildings less than a mile from the future NPR location, said that his property taxes increased last year from $13,614 to $36,151. Deoudes, who has owned the buildings for 29 years, said the city needs to help longtime business owners who stayed when the area was a “ghost town.”

“That’s criminal,” Deoudes said about the NPR deal. “My assessments went up . . . while somebody else got it for 20 years with no property taxes. They’re handing out benefits to the big guys and leaving the small-time guys like myself and my tenant out of business. We’re picking up the tab for somebody else.”

So next time you hear the birkenstock-shod whiners on NPR decrying corporate welfare, remember that poor schmo who is subsidizing these socialists.

NPR – Just Some Examples:

Running my wife to the airport this morning, we decided to take a listen to the local National Palestinian Radio and in an hour we got:

  • A story about the illegal immigrant convention in Los Angeles.  It had speech quotes from two of the speakers (in Spanish of course), two direct quotes from attendees at the illegal-fest (one actually in English).  There was a mention of the fact that some counter-demonstrations took place, and there was a third-party quote from the director of FAIR.  However, they were very careful to not have his eeeeeeevil voice on the radio – it was just the reporter giving a quote.
  • Not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 different stories that either focused on Elizabeth Edward’s cancer or referred to it in a major way.
  • This being Palestinian radio, there was a story about some Seattle group performing the play “Rachel Corrie” which is essentially Palestinian propaganda wrapped around anti-Israel and anti-Semitic hate.  Of course, in this one they did actually allow someone from the Anti-Defamation League to be heard on the radio directly.
  • Big sob story from a Doctor who is ONLY making $140,000 a year because she has to do so much insurance paperwork, while trying to get “free” care for her patients who refuse to pay for their parents prescriptions.

Its good to hear what the enemy is saying sometimes.  I just am sad that even one penny of my tax money goes to support this anti-American, anti-capitalism, anti-logical drivel.
