The Butterfield Effect – Taxes – and Media Ignorance

Seven years ago, I wrote about the “Butterfield Effect,” which is a term used to mock clueless journalists. A former reporter for the New York Times, Fox Butterfield, became a bit of a laughingstock in the 1990s for publishing a series of articles addressing the supposed quandary of how crime rates could be falling during […]

Enemies of the State

In your wildest dreams would you think that if this were a Republican administration asking people to snitch on those who opposed it the dead-stream media would be drenching their monitors with spittle-flecked rage?

So here I am Mr. Messiah.  I oppose you too.

The Great Liberal Panemonium Machine

The Mexican swine flu pandemic? Oh, that’s soooo yesterday. Global Warming? All those confident “scientific” predictions are falling apart around the world, even as greedy politicians still try to squeeze the last little drops of power and money out of them. Human flesh-eating bacteria? SARS? Ozone holes? Mad Cow? The Curse of the Killer Tomatoes? Water torture? CO2? Bee Colony Collapse? It never ends. As long as scare stories sell, as long as millions of indoctrinated suckers fall for them they will never end. They’ve got you on a rat-running wheel, running scared every day, like rats scrambling to get away from electrical shocks that never actually come.

The Left rules by constant fear, but none of its predicted catastrophes come true. Ever notice that? Instead, we do have real things to worry about, all right — but half of them are the results of the Media Pandemonium Machine itself. Like one third of the little kids in our world who are now convinced — by cynical or deluded adults — that they won’t live long enough to enjoy a healthy adulthood. That is a terrible burden imposed on little children by the Left, in its never-ending grab for power.
There is an element of sadistic cruelty in the Leftist Pandemonium Machine. “Pandemonium” is the imaginary Hell of devils, and there is something truly demonic about the torrent of media madness we have to tolerate every day.
The Great Liberal Pandemonium Machine is spreading disease, all right, but it’s a psychiatric disease — of unjustified fear, depression, and despair.
there are some very realistic dangers — like terrorists blowing up a chunk of Manhattan or getting nuclear weapons.

From the Messiah’s Own:

President Obama was informed about the $165 million in bonuses due to employees of the American Insurance Group the day before they were paid out last week, the White House disclosed late Tuesday.

The president did not publicly express anger over the bonuses until after they were disclosed Sunday in The Washington Post.

I think we need to demand an investigation into just how this information got into the WaPo and whoever leaked it should be killed immediately – they are getting paid to worship Him, not give out damaging information like this.

Someone Who Gets It

Very weird to see it from a British journalist.  Everything you read from these guys – including the supposedly conservative papers – shows them even more in the tank for The Messiah than the US journos.  And that, my friends, is really saying something.

However, this pretty much sums up the situation in just one clear sentence:

This will end in tears.

But we will let Mr. Warner expost, since he writes so well

The Obama hysteria is not merely embarrassing to witness, it is itself contributory to the scale of the disaster that is coming. What we are experiencing, in the deepening days of a global depression, is the desperate suspension of disbelief by people of intelligence – la trahison des clercs – in a pathetic effort to hypnotise themselves into the delusion that it will be all right on the night. It will not be all right.

It is frightening to think there is a real possibility that the entire world economy could go into complete meltdown and famine kill millions. Yet Western – and British – commentators are cocooned in a warm comfort zone of infatuation with America’s answer to Neil Kinnock. We should be long past applauding politicians of any hue: they got us into this mess. The best deserve a probationary opportunity to prove themselves, the worst should be in jail.

It is questionable whether the present political system can survive the coming crisis. Whatever the solution, teenage swooning sentimentality over a celebrity cult has no part in it. The most powerful nation on earth is confronting its worst economic crisis under the leadership of its most extremely liberal politician, who has virtually no experience of federal politics. That is not an opportunity but a catastrophe.

These are frank, even ungracious, words: they have the one merit that, unlike almost everything else written today about Obama, they will not require to be eaten in the future.
