Welcome to…..Venezuela. The socialist/communist paradise.
Quick, which nation shows average civilian deaths at 33 a day in the last third of 2007? Now name the one where civilian deaths average 19 a day? If you guessed Iraq and Venezuela, you’d have it backward.
Shocking? Of course. But true. With even Venezuelan officials admitting their country clocked 12,249 murders in 2007, Hugo Chavez’s socialist “sea of happiness” resembles a war zone. In December alone, Venezuela had 670 murders while Iraq had 476 — and that number is falling fast.
Meanwhile, night travel is strongly discouraged and no one wears jewelry openly. Security guards pack big firepower to guard tiny businesses like bakeries, and bulletproof cars are common.
Cuban doctors sent for propaganda purposes to help the poor often flee for their safety, leaving boarded up “free” health care kiosks in Caracas slums like Petare and Catia.
willingness to fight and to win is the difference between the brave Iraqi and American war effort and the festering mess in Chavez’s chaotic Venezuela.

Its a very deliberate effort to make sure that the deceased and the illegal immigrants get their “vote”.
It is the epitome of common sense–which is why most liberals are against it. And they can make all the excuses they care to muster regarding it: hardship, “racism,” “disenfranchisement,” inconvenience, “undue burden,” even global warming. Not one iota of it will wash. Quite simply, everyone voting in an American election should be required to show a picture ID.
Why would anyone oppose voter ID? Forget the above rationalizations. They are nothing more than a smoke screen obscuring reality: liberals know that winning elections the “old-fashioned way,” aka convincing a majority of Americans their policy positions are superior is virtually impossible.
I’ll spare you the list of things you can’t do in this country without producing a picture ID. For one thing, most Americans are quite familiar with such realities. For another, it’s a really long list. Those who would exempt voting from it are beyond cynical.

What’s shocking is that its taken so long. There have been attempted attacks – especially on El Al flights (see Kenya), and it seems like this would be a high profile terror target – shooting down a planeload of Americans.
As many as three American Airlines passenger jets will be outfitted this spring with laser technology intended to protect planes from missile attacks.
The technology is intended to stop attacks by detecting heat from missiles, then responding in a fraction of a second by firing laser beams to jam the missiles’ guidance systems.
The use of a signal to mimic a missile attack has already been tested in the air, said Tim Wagner, an American Airlines spokesman. Those tests also showed that the anti-missile system didn’t interfere with the jet’s other controls, officials said.
Officials said yesterday that the anti-missile system would not be tested on flights that carry passengers. The tests, which could involve more than 1,000 flights, will determine how the technology holds up under the rigors of flight, they said.

Don’t forget they are serving to protect us and the world. Makes us realize our problems are minuscule, no matter how bad they are. They are our true heroes!
