  2. Hahaha. Obviously they’re not their real bodies, Sean. These are like paintings. Of course this person isn’t trying to fool anyone. Don’t get so pushy :P

  3. Sean,

You may be accurate however, those bodies belong to some poor soul.

  7. Wow.. so it’s clear we know these are fake. But is this what you people think fasting does? Unless you think fasting is not eating or drinking anything.

    fast·ed, fast·ing, fasts:
    1. To abstain from food.
    2. To eat very little or abstain from certain foods, especially as a religious discipline.
    n.
    1. The act or practice of abstaining from or eating very little food.

Those pictures are referring to anorexia.. not fasting.. two completely different things. Maybe you should educate yourself on the topic.

    anorexia:
1598, “lack of appetite,” from Gk. anorexia, from an- “without” + orexis “appetite, desire,” from oregein “to desire, stretch out” (cognate with L. regere “to keep straight, guide, rule;” see regal). Anorexia nervosa “emaciation as a result of severe emotional disturbance” was coined 1873 by W.W. Gull. Anorectic “characterized by lack of appetite” is from 1894; Anorexic is from 1907 as an adj., with ref. to anorexia nervosa; as a n. meaning “person with anorexia nervosa” it is attested from 1913.

  8. It’s really cool that I was thinking how these pictures don’t really depict fasting so much as sever anorexia… then I scroll down to the 7th comment and see that KC already stated that viewpoint. Well done, KC!

Granted, the Moses style type of fasting did entail not eating for 40 days, but whenever I think of Biblical fasting, I think of the person being so filled with God’s love that they draw whatever sustainance the body needs from that.

  10. Please dont mislead people – I am fasting today in observance of a rasta holiday – Grounation day. I am not eating for 24 hours to express my committment to my faith. I am an extremely healthly 38 year old female – 166lbs 5′2 (oh yes, this sista is thick) – these pictures depict starvation – not fasting by concious individuals. To the person who says to hell with fasting – why were you doing it anyways? for commercial reasons? then yes, go eat a sandwich – you probably would not have made it through the day without one. On the other hand those of us who are motivated for spiritual reasons – see a divine purpose in our actions. My God is not my belly – in the absence of food I shall be burning incense, praying/praising/ twisting my locks and enjoying the day.
    live in love always.
    jah bless.

  11. fasting is a highly spiritual experience. done right, it can be very beneficial to the body as well. what most people fail to realize is that all humanity takes a fast every night – and then we “break fast” in the morning. breakfast, yes. fasting has long been an integral part of cultures throughout time. did you know that it’s a proven fact, ‘those who eat less, live longer’. i didn’t say, those who eat nothing, i said those who eat less. most people would not believe how much MORE energy you have when you eliminate 95% of the crap we ingest daily. the body not only rises dramatically in energy, but your emotional centers are much less congested with negativity/impurities from the food. clearing and cleansing takes place on the physical, mental, and emotional layers and as the body shifts its focus on healing during the fast, the spiritual layer becomes almost tangible. it’s a huge challenge to overcome initially, but hunger passes, and your awareness expands as a result. again, if you’re interested in fasting, research it, make sure it’s right for you.

  13. Hello guys,

The idea of fasting, is not to kill ourselves like these pictures of anorexic bodies. On the contrary is to raise our energy and become more alive or become alive once and for all by continuing to take care of the body even when we stop fasting. An educated person will know what to put in the body while fasting and what not to put and vice versa and that will be the same after fasting. I post my comment anyway because it will be good for people who don’t know what is fasting to have some knowledge. Like some say : fasting is not anorexia, they are opposite, the first being healthy for the human body and soul, etc. and the second being unhealthy.

I am fasting right now to raise my intuition and to be able to work on my projects without falling asleep trough the day and also to clean my body and take away some excess ponds. The fast helps me a lot in clearing my head, mental, belly, etc. Food never made me feel good since I was very little and until now even though I was still eating for ”health”, Yah right! all those junk cooked! I always feeling very good by eating just fresh food, that means : fresh fruits generally and fresh water. Cooked food always made me feel very heavy, as I was going to explode like a balloon. I never know anyone like me. I will be glad to know one at least. Around me people are eating like animals with no mind and without thinking, I do same some time to not being point out and I always pay the price with constipation and other problems related with foods. I feel like cooked food don’t like me even though I like them but not my body, my belly or my soul. I always feel alone. After eating almost all the food in the planet, I decide to take my case seriously by doing a fasting (orange juice, grapefruit juice, lemon juice (If I feel wanting something more to eat I take about three dry plums by shewing them until become liquiq before swallowing, if not as liquid as I want I just spit it in the garbage, I take something else, for example, about 2 or four almonds fresh (mean : put almonds in a cup feel with some water, cover it for the whole night and when need it, just take away the skin by pressing it between two fingers (your tom and the other finger beside your tom)). I just shew it in my mouth and drink only the juice and throw away the solid out of my mouth, sometime I do the same wiht the apple by taking the liquid without swallowing the solid. I am on my 10th days of fasting, I have to do it for 11 more days. This will be my first 21 days of fasting. After nine days of fasting with juice I lost 10 pounds by taking senna leaves every night. I don’t know if I will continue with the senna, I don’t like the smell.

    Love you guys
    Take care

  15. After fasting 4 days {water only}, nothing but water comes out. Shouldn’t the water all be processed by the kidney? I’m extremely unintentionally thin to start with {120 lbs at 6 feet}. I never could gain weight in 65 years.
