Colorado – Support Amendment 43

Why do we need to have Amendment 43 enacted as an amendment to the constitution defining marriage as between a man and a woman? Here’s why:

The mantra used against Amendment 43 is, to quote one prominent progressive group, that “Colorado law already defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman.”

As of course it does. But such a law didn’t prevent the Massachusetts high court from dictating gay marriage there. And such a law didn’t prevent the New Jersey high court this week from giving lawmakers in that state 180 days to rewrite its marriage laws, with the possibility of including same-sex couples.

The only reason for Amendment 43 is to prevent judges from pulling the same stunt in Colorado and thus short-circuiting the democratic process. And that is reason enough.
